Hi there my dad works as a carpenter he is due to be tupie over to another company. He was told verbally on the 29th February that his current employer is going to be tupied over or voluntary redundancy was an option. No formal letter was issued. My dad then had a phone call on the 15th march that he had to dress formal and bring in documents ready for the 16th march to be tuple over. He mentioned the redundancy money and was told its too late. He attended the consultation with the new employers with all colleagues at 10:30am on the 16th march to see what it was all about. He had a 121 meeting with a member from HR at a set time. My dad has had a lot of personal issues and hehas had a lot on his mind he’s 50 and it’s a lot to take in for some people. He didn’t attend the 121 session as he just wasn’t in the right state of mind. Thequestion i need to ask is does this affect his voluntary redundancy? His boss explained he has up until the end of March to take it, his boss the rung him tosay as he didn’t attend the 121 meeting he has now lost out on that money? Also his company are not tuple over until the 2nd April. As he didn’t attend his 121 briefing does this jeopardise in him tuping over to this new company now?

will be greatful for any advice that helps my dad

TUPE and redundancy are not really options.

the TUPE process should happen then the new company can look at the business and might need to make redundancies.

if you are not part of a TUPE the current company can look at business and make redundancies.

they realy should not be mixing up the redundacy and the TUPE.

I don't think the company were confusing the two, I think the OP's father is.

Voluntary redundancy was an option if they didn't want to be tuped.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
