Hello all!
Hope your all well!
I bought a brand new Asus X53E latop a week ago, yesterday. There a couple of small issues, but i don't really know where i stand.
Basically some of the function keys have stopped working. The only ones that do work, is the screen brightness and the rest (volume, webcam, wireless, calculator ect) don't work!
I have reinstalled the drivers and the keys still don't work.
Also for some reason, Google Chrome doesn't work. When i click on the Chrome icon, nothing happens. I've un-installed it, then reinstalled it and it worked again for 2 days, now it has stopped working again!
AVG also doesn't work, when i tried to go into it, the window is blank.
Lastly, i un-installed a programme that frankly i didn't need and today its back on my system!
It's just really weird! I don't really know much about laptops, but can i send it back because of these issues? I'm worried these small issues will become big issues over time!
I bought it from eBuyer.
Thanks!!!
Hope your all well!

Did it come with Chrome
Did it come with AVG
Why mess with it and try to send it back , you have deleted, installed without saying exactly what you have done. Restore it back to factory settings it's only a week old then start again with the experience.
Now did you create a repair disk, and a system image as it would have asked you to do when you first started using it. I guess the small issues will be big issues over time, but to quote someone else "Problem in chair , not computer"4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Back up any data and do a Factory Restore. If it still has hardware issues after that, send it back for a warranty repair. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

All of the problems started BEFORE i "messed" around with it, so how can it be the "problem in the chair?"
I set it up, created the back up discs, used the internet to check emails, facebook ect. Then the next day they stopped working. I re downloaded the drivers for the function keys, like i was told to by the Asus helpline, this worked for 1 day.
During this day, i removed the free for 60 minutes, then you have to pay for the full version games, removed the anti-virus software that came with it and installed AVG. Then downloaded Google Chrome, as i didn't really like Explorer.
No google chrome and avg didn't come with it i know, but why is it both of these systems worked perfectly fine with my old laptop and now suddenly not with the new one? Surely that means there is something wrong with it somewhere?0 -
OK, I was a bit harsh, but you have said what you have done thus far, so either restore to factory settings or run malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free let it do an update and post the log here. The machine should not lose the Function key settings etc (normally) unless something has gone wrong
Edit: Oh and check in Control Panel - Windows Update and see if there have been any new updates since you first used it (Update History ...that may have bu.....d the keys )4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Just wanted to say apart from your keyboard problem ,My D/D has had all sorts of random problems very similar to yours with her Asus and hers is only 10wks old.Its been back once battery failed to connect, and when it came back it was dirty and very badly packed.Since then it has not been great ,almost the same as your problems, especially trying to connect to the internet,we are not thrilled.0
