paypal premier account??

I have just sold my first ever item on ebay and the buyer has paid via paypal. I clicked to accept the payment then it asked me if I want to upgrade to the premier account or just accept the payment now although if I don't upgrade I can only accept 2 payments pers year??
Do I upgrade? Don't really understand what the difference is?
Also how do you people pay your ebay fees? I put in my card details when I set up to sell will they take them automatically off my switch or do I pay them via paypal?

if you just have the basic paypal account, you can only accept 2 credit card payments through Paypal but you dont pay fees for receiving money. You can only receive from people that have a balance already in their account, or transferred from their bank account

If you upgrade to premier, you can accept all card payments...but you will also pay a fee on any money received into your account

Thanks for that. I just accepted it without upgrading this time, I will upgrade when it tells me I have to I suppose. When I accepted it they took the fee. I got £21.00 for my sold item and paypal charged me 0.91 does that sound about right?

    Thats great thanks
  • not to be rude mosaic, but you seem pretty clueless about this. I recommend you research and read a bit more before going fully into ebay. Most ebayers here would tell you that the preferred payment method are as follows

    paypal - convenient
bank transfer - brilliant, no fees.
bankers draft - great, but small hassle banking it in
postal order - great, but small hassle of cashing it in
cheques - no fees, but pain in a$$
echeques -NO! real pain in A$$

oh and giving ppl your bank account number and sort code is as safe as sending a cheque. Look at your cheques next time and you will find that those details are printed at the bottom.

for someone to pay using bank transfer all they need is name, sort code and bank account number

That is no different than the info found on a cheque.

Ebay don't like bank transfer partly because it's not the safest way to pay a total stranger... but also because they get no money from it.

    If you're a seller, it's fantastic.

  • Banker's draft is nothing to do with bank transfer.

Banker's draft is like a special cheque you get at your bank... you pay a fee, you get a bit of paper, it's virtually as good as cash (although these days for some reason they take time to clear)

A Bank Transfer you can do in 30 seconds flat through your online banking. No fee.
