Thx for any help....

Have you tried contacting who you bought it from to explain what has happened and ask if they can allow you to download the correct one?

I can, actually, because Audible is owned by Amazon, who have their own device that supports Audible.

But to be more precise, it's the Walkman that doesn't support Audible format, rather than the other way round.

Other than suggesting Googling for convert AA to mp3, I can't offer any more help.

In the past I looked at Audible audiobooks and discovered that Audible's AA format can't be used on my Creative Zen players, so naturally I don't use them.
Audible is losing customers by insisting on the DRM laden obscure file formats, which can't be played on Creative, Sony and Sansa players.
Not the best of marketing strategy.

For free audio books try http://www.podiobooks.com/

Apparently AA audio files can be converted to the more compatible .MP3 format using a program like Tunebite, TuneCab, or SoundTaxi Media Suite

All cost though they do appear to have trial periods

I think that the open source (free for use under GPL license) software called 'Audacity' will open these files and export them as mp3's (additional codec needed to do this, but instructions provided with software). You can download it from sourceforge.net - just search for audacity.

You may lose chapter marks during the initial import, but the software will allow you to manually split the book up if you need to.

I think Format Factory - again free may be useful here:
