Hsbc ppi loan

Hi freinds some help please. I was not married to my wife at the time of the loan and never got involved with her private finances.

Ok my wife had a personal loan in her name taken out in 2005 with hsbc bank.

Loan amount £5250.00 interest £1930.95
total repayable £7180.95

credit protection insurance £1293.29
charge for credit for £474.46
total payable £1764.46

at time never thought anything about it but due to reading storys and news etc am looking into claiming this money back.

Firstly loan is completely paid of and all ppi payments and never defaulted and finished in 2010.

When talking to my wife she said at time the insurance was not explained to her properly and felt she had to take it at time of signing.

1. What are your thought for case to claim for refund?
2. What amount should she ask for?
3. Anyone got any good te,plate letters?
4. How long does it take?

Any help would be great many thanks sizzler:)
