Freesat TV technical question

My humax freesat box has a 'thingie' called diseqc switching which allows me to alternate between two satellite sets of channels from my bigger satellite dish.

If I buy a new freesat tv (thus doing away with the humax box) does it have such a facility? Everybody I ask goes blank when I ask this question.....

Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

No they don't. They have a very simple very tied down satellite receiving system and EPG.

I have a Panasonic TX-P42G20B. The only options I have are to scan freesat channels and manually add a channel. On manually add, it gives me transponder frequency, polarisatino and symbol rate options only. All Freesat TVs are pretty much the same. They've been designed for a specific system.

DiSEqC is designed for more complicated systems and designed to allow the set top box to interface with multiple dishes/LNBs and also controllers. Integrated Freesat is designed to do one thing - get signals from whatever one LNB input is pointing at and display the Freesat EPG.

So what's the alternative? Can I get a small gadget to sit between my freesat tv and the dish or is the keeping humax box the only answer?

Personally I would keep the Humax box, the receivers in the TVs do not usually match up to the sensitivity and quality of the Humax.

I have not seen a Diseqc "thingie" to do what you want, I have only seen a manual switch, but that means you would have to have extra cable(s) into the house to do it.
