Internet Explorer 9 - Recommended security and compatability settings - or not?

Sorry to ask another question (I'll probably be asking a few until I get used to the new computer :o). Internet Explorer 9 keeps asking me if I want to:

"use recommended security and compatability settings"
or
"don't use recommended settings"

I don't know which I should select as it mentions the recommended option uses "smartscreen filter which helps protect against malicious websites and software by sending some web addresses to Microsoft to be checked. Compatability View lists are downloaded to make websites designed for older browsers look better in Internet Explorer 9".

If I chose the recommended option, would this interfere with my Internet Security Suite (it recommends not to turn on Windows Firewall or Windows Defender).

Would it be better not to use the recommeded settings, please?

    Use recommended.

    It shouldn't do, no.
