As you are pregnant that will bring the thing to a head soon enough.

    Does the boss know yet?

    In the mean time,

You or the 3rd person needs to start taking on finance stuff properly(asking for training) or pushing this back as not qualified, got my own work to do etc.

Get the boss to take action.

once you go on maternity if nothing is done the business will be losing 2 people out of 3 in the office.

There is someone looking for finance work on here are you local enough for them.

Someone with Depression who refuses to get help, and be helped, and just goes through the motions of life, is not a good person to have in the workplace, Business is ruthless, and to have an Emploree with severe Depression is going to lead to lower productivity, and if the Manager does nothing about it, than imo he is a poor manager, i am suprised the person mentioned has not been sacked yet, after all as i said if a person doesnt want to help him/herself, how can others?

If you let severe Depression go untreated, a loss of a Job is the least of your worries.

Ive experienced this at work before and it is most frustrating - agreed

Yes me too, I know a lot about depression and helping people I have managed to manage their condition in the workplace. I have supported a number of staff over the years, one with post-natal, one with bi-polar and one who suffered SAD. But I had an employee who kept going against her doctors advice and refused to take her medication, and refused to admit she was ill, even though she could not do her job and often sat at her desk and cried. I eventually had to take a very strong line with her as it was having a really bad effect on the team. She eventually accused me of bullying her because I suggested that I could refer her to a counsellor and/or occupational health officer, this was investigated and proved unfounded. It is probably one of the most difficult things to deal with as a Manager, but I think that as soon as you recognise that others in the team are being affected a good manager will take steps to deal with it. It will be easier for your Manager if she knows that she can depend on you to step up and tell the truth, if there are accusation or a complaint put in against her (very common in these situations I am led to believe)
