hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I took out a credit card in 2001 and it i still have it. I was also sold PPI at the time and im still paying it. Iv had have various balances from 100 to 10000 over the years. I have been reading the website and not really sure what i should do.
I keep getting calls from various ppi claim companies saying i need to claim but they do seem to charge alot. Do i have a claim or are they just trying their arm?
Im not really sure what my grounds for claim would be. I was empolyed at the time of taking out the card and have been ever since. I cannot remember if it was fully explained to me what i was getting but this reason seems a bit vague??
It was sold to me face to face but from what i remember it was done in a very flippant way.
Please can you help?
thank you in advance

Hi Melissa,
Firstly DO NOT USE a claims company, they will deprive you of at least a quarter of any redress for doing no more than you can yourself.
Second, were you told that it was optional, were you told you could shop around for a better deal, were you asked about your employment and any benefits at work should you be ill or unable to work and keep up payments, if you feel you were talked into it in order to be accepted for the card and not given the full facts despite it being a face to face deal then you have every right to complain
Third, download the questionnaire and fill it in, you only need the card number which you have and any reasons to feel you were mis sold. You could photocopy any/all statements you have to prove you have been paying it.
Fourth, send it all off recorded delivery and keep copies of everything
Fifth, sit back and wait for a response
Good luck
Halifax appear to be auto upholding anything that is proved to have PPISuccesses

Did they get the ball rolling and tell you they will investigate it during that call ?
If not, fill in a questionnaire as above and get it sent off

What did you cancel, the insurance or the mis sell claim?, if it was just the insurance that is fine, if it was the mis sell then ring them up and do it again.0

hi
it was the miss sell i cancelled i still pay the ppi, im not sure what to say though. Do i just tell them i wasnt made 100% clear what ppi was and didnt realise that i could get it else were. think this is where the claim companies earn theri money.
thanks again

Look here for reasons for mis sell
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#step2
If any/all apply to you then put a claim in, they will cancel the ppi when they accept the claim,to be on the safe side make sure they do this while you are on the phone.

DO NOT use a claims management company. If you believe you were mis-sold then print off the questionaire from their website, fill it in and send it off to them. That's what I did and get to keep 100% of my £4100 pay out and not pay a third of it to a claims management company for doing exactly the same as what you can do.0
