My computer has constantly been rebooting and I ran the xp driver verifier, but haven't got a clue what this means

Did you change or install anything before this started happening? What is different on your computer now then when it was working? New printer? Graphics Driver? Anti virus? Etc[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

hi Merciless killer, the only thing I have recently installed is media player 11. I was wondering if I should reboot with the xp cd and do a repair an existing installation. Would this make things worse?0

Won't make things worse but it sounds like its a registry problem so it may not make things better either!try doing a system restore to before it started happening....[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

tried that everytime I do it tells me your computer could not be restored to an earlier point. I have tried using norton system works but that does no good either.0

hmmm i'd be tempted to uninstall WMP 11 if you can through add/remove programs simply to test whether its that or not!!!
You may be looking at a format![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Think I will do that and run the driver verifier again0

Nope anther spontaneous reboot any advice on simple way to format0

Back up yourself on cd/dvd or online (plenty of free online backup trials you can use)
Write down all installed software and drivers for hardware so you remember what you need.
Stick in windows disk before you restart ur comp.. then wen its restarting follow all instructionsMake sure you format the current partition using NTFS. To do this press D on the current partition in the setup (you'll see what i mean but its easy to do as it tells you anyway!) and then another key to create a new partition basically!
Then once its installed, install your internet drivers, do windows update and download anti virus.. then enjoy putting eveyrthing back on one by one[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I think a repair install would be a better and easier option in this case than a format/fresh re-install. Repair install does rebuild the registry from scratch and re-installs all drivers (provided you have the drivers files). However the big difference is it doesn't overwrite your programs or data files.
If you do do this I would recommend going to https://www.autopatcher.com first and downloading the latest windows updates first.

If its a software conflict though then that would still remain? Plus formatting is always good for a pc so to be honest it'd be worse to just overwrite the problem rather than deleting it and starting again
I always recommend formats over repairs simply due tot he speed of the computer after![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
