    Hello everyone,

Makes a nice change for me to be posting on a Saturday!

OrangeFairy - Great news about the extra day, glad things are not as bad as they first seemed!
DNMS - Thanks for starting us, hope your course goes quickly!
Ziggy - Hope you & your mum have a nice time at the coast, I love the seaside as it reminds me of my childhood holidays with my grandparents :)

    Today I will:
    • [STRIKE]Check banks[/STRIKE] Good job I did, was about to be overdrawn! Money shifted around promptly to avoid the Halifax OD charges!
    • [STRIKE]Check CCs[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Reconcile banks/CCs to MS Money[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Take boss to train station (should get some petrol money!)[/STRIKE] Did not - hoping for at least some sweets on Monday!
    • [STRIKE]Run[/STRIKE] Well, it was more of a brisk walk, but done it!!!
    • Update blog!
    • [STRIKE]Work on work's facebook page - sadly neglected :([/STRIKE]
    • Do a bit more work
    • Read 2 chapters of OU work and online activities Done one chapter and associated online activities, will do the second tonight.
    • Housesitting this weekend and have been left £20 for a chinese, woop!
    • [STRIKE]Need to buy a suit for interview next week - will go to Mr A's first, if no luck then town... I don't wear suits in my job so hate spending money on them![/STRIKE] Got suit jacket and trousers for £24 in Mr A's - bit of a miracle, they had either a cream suit jacket (no trousers) or the suit jacket with matching trousers I bought, and only one size 10 jacket - the rest were all 20/22s, so a bit of luck there! Also bought shoes at £7 and a pack of tights for £2!
    • [STRIKE]Get petrol from Mr A's whilst I'm there - not filling up at the moment and seems to be saving me money, I tend to have a bit of a heavy right foot when the petrol tank is full until the needle moves![/STRIKE]
    • Watch the rugby! In progress!

    Hi all!

Just popping back in to update whilst watching the end of the rugby and pondering what to have for tea! Had a bit of a slip up when I found a factory shop near to Mr A's, got two pairs of shorts for £10 (officially marked as samples, but identical pairs on the website are £18 marked down from £42 so I think a bit of a bargain!) for my hols and a pair of shoes for £10. Avoided the bargainous £20 boots (down from £100) so not beating myself up TOO badly.

Also downloaded the Couch to 5K podcasts after my 'run' this morning, anyone done it and have success stories for motivation?

Hope everyone's had a great day!

  • When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning  could not believe we weren't started already!!! I am up early as I have to go and do my speed awareness course after being caught speeding in Dec :( real pain in the wotsit! Oh well I live and learn...

    • [STRIKE]all meals from stores[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]maybe nsd??? if I can persuade oh to drive...[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]going to a museum that I got free tickets to. Will take a flask of coffee & snacks ;)[/STRIKE] didn't go decided that as its miserable here it wasn't worth the cost of petrol to drive there to save £2! will go when its a lovely day and have a walk and a picnic as well! ;)
    • [STRIKE]eating porridge now to fill myself up & free drinks on the course [/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]work on jigsaw puzzle with oh later[/STRIKE]
    • watch a film & stay in tonight
    • possible reconcile spreadsheet with all my spends over the last week - its going to be illuminating! OMG its too daunting! Am going to have to have a crazy ebay sesh tomorrow while its free listing to recoup some of the money I've spent in the last couple of weeks... :o
have a good day everyone x

the course wasn't too bad actually! Learnt a lot of stuff so that's a good thing. Brought home how important it is to stay alert and how often I'm not :o

got 4 biscuits, a coffee & 2 bottles of water free while there

used up mushrooms & courgette that needed using for dinner

    that's my lot

Hi everyone - not a great day here. Haven't been bad but have really felt deprived.
Did my grocery shop - had to buy socks and pants for my toddler etc so it was a little more than usual but not near where it used to be. I have to say I felt awful because there was a toy I know she would love and I had to be strong willed with myself and not buy it. I know she has lots of toys and knows no different but I felt like a bad mum - that my reckless spending before means I can't treat her now.

Anyway - that little ramble aside...

Food shopping was below what it used to be - got quite a few whoopsies as shopped at 6pm so some nice food lined up for the next day or so. And got LOADS of fruit and veg.

Two loads of washing went out on the line today -no tumble drying!

Tackled the "cupboard of doom" in my kitchen and uncovered some forgotten about Play Doh sets and colouring in things so will have a happy little crafting daughter!

Spent most of the day in my mum's. Brought her over a pot of soup I made last night with some ingredients which were on the turn - lovely, lovely soup.

Not much else to report. Am going to get a shower soon and settle down for the night.

Morning campers! Lovely here this morning, obviously today we get the weather the rest of the country had yesterday :T

After assessing my financial fall from grace this last couple of weeks, I really need to make some additional cash/cut back on spending over the coming month....

so with that in mind today I will:

    • take photos of things to ebay this morning
    • spending day with dd today. Roast dinner from stores this evening
    • write up and list ebay things this evening
    • update spening diary
    • check tyre pressure, oil & water - ask for token when I get petrol 20p saved! :p
    • take snacks & coffee out with dd to keep spends down
    • ordered free trial veg box from here http://www.natures-window.co.uk/veg-boxes/keep-it-simple-range
    • £10 petrol for the week (this months petrol is 1/2 of what it normally is :T am pledging to walk to work every day this week :D)
[STRIKE]make my mind up about returning shoes to Jones, they are lovely but think I could get a different pair from somewhere else for less money...
[/STRIKE] ok I have decided I am returning them. They are lovely but I have seen some on asos that are £30 less so that's funds back into the account

ok that's my lot I think. Hope everyone has a lovely sunday x

    Eighth Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
anna I think the fact that you are taking control of your finances shows what a good mum you are! You're working hard to provide a stable home for your little girl, try not to be too hard on yourself :A Anyway you found those things in the cupboard so as far as she's concerned she got a new toy anyway!

DNMS Thanks for that link, I might try that too.

I did manage a NSD yesterday! :j And I even got a free book when I was helping my friend sort through things she wanted to eBay. Does that technically make it a minus spend day? :rotfl:

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums on here - I'm off to ring my own now :)
