Cake.....and eat in

Firstly let me get this straight, I dont want my cake and eat it but interested to know what my rights were.
After no consultancy period, I was told I was being made redundant and put on immediate gardening leave until the end of March.
At this point I will get my redundancy pay which is generous considering I have been there only five years. I was also offered a different job with a slightly different title, supervisor not manager on half the pay.
I had to tick which option I wanted and sign to say no party would bring each others name into disrepute and I ticked to redundancy box.
My question is, should I have had a longer consultation period or a meeting, I wasnt even at work on the day it happened, I received a phone call at home.

Only me, and I know it was because my salary was too high really and they tried previously to remove car allowance etc.
The job offer at half pay was in a letter.0
