Equifax have ripped me off

Don't know if this has happened to anyone else but here goes.
I needed to check my credit history the other day just to see who I have accounts with and how many I have. Went into the credit rating section of this website and saw Equifax have an instant report that you can try free of charge for 30 days (bar £1 admin fee).
So after triple checking the web page to make sure it wasn't too good to be true I clicked "start free trial" I entered all my details and card details (Martin said in his article I would need to do this) I completed the questions to make sure I am who I said, then came the payment confirmation "thank you for your payment, £14.95 will be debited from your account"
As you can understand my anger, both at Equifax for basically losing to me and taking money for a service I didn't ask for or do not need (I've found out its the credit rating service they have charged me for and not the credit report). And also Partly at this website for not saving me money.
All I've got to hope for is that when I Phone up they will refund the £14.95 but I'm not holding my breath for that outcome.

They will refund you don't worry....:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Phoned up today and they couldnt refund the charge, after 10 minutes of arguing that they had illegally miss sold me something that I didn't want and getting no where I asked to speak to a manager, on hold for 10 minutes she came back and said that they would refund it, then tried to sell me something else to which I politely declined.
How can I flag this up to Martin Lewis or website managers that a website they advertise is potentially misleading customers.0 -
My whole family got free 30 day trials with no admin fees and £7 cash back.
Are you sure you were reading the right page?0 -
You sure you clicked on the right option to get it free for 30 days. Im sure i did the free for 30 days option and wasnt charged £150

make sure you cancel your account with them too as some will go on charging you every month. My husband is still signed up to one that charges us £7.99 every month even though I keep asking him to cancel.0

Yes I'm 100% sure I clicked free trial, it was the only option on the page and I read the page 2 or 3 times to make sure I was on the right page. Once the refund is back in my bank im going to make sure I cancel0

Just want to jump on to this and say the same thing happened to me just now. Oddly enough their website seems to be going slow at the worst time.
I clicked the option to take a FREE 30 day credit trial* with the * referencing the fact it's £6.99 after the 30 days are up. Filled in my details, and was then told I have been charged £14.95.
I am not trawling their website trying to find a contact number or something to get hold of them tomorrow but it seems to be well hidden! Although it's not helping that certain parts of their site are failing to load entirely...0 -
I had my 30 day trial, which I cancelled. The following month, I had £14.99 taken from my account by equifax. I called them, they made sure it was cancelled, took a week to receive the refund. THEN, on Monday, ANOTHER £14.99 was taken from my account!!!!
Obviously, I flipped my lid, as they're basically stealing money from me. They said it definitely won't happen again, which I don't believe for a second! They refund is STILL not in my account.
I definitely think Martin Lewis needs to be made aware of this problem, because he features their company so much on this website. I'm sure he would want to be made aware of the problems people are having with equifax.0 -
Just updating on this, tried calling them 4 times today, each and every time their system has been going through an upgrade "that should take about an hour" it seems to be the same person answering every time as well... The upgrade has now been going on for 7 1/2 hours.
So I cannot get the refund or the account cancelled, and am just getting fobbed off. I guess I'm going to have to write a letter and complain that way, and will be contacting the financial ombudsman as well if it's not dealt with.
I've e-mailed them but had not reply so far, and i0
