So presumably soolin, the option to have Paypal funds transferred automatically to your seller at 3am is a feature you would be taking advantage of?

No I prefer to have some control over my money. I am often seen as an apologist for paypal on here, but I think they have enough power without giving them the right to make payments on my behalf.

Also, on a more practical note, I have two paypal accounts and depending on where i have funds I choose which paypal to use. I also occasionally pay for things for my sons, but would not want my paypal account automatically debited for all their purchases.

  • I sell quite high value items which may sometimes require buyers to transfer funds from interest accounts to their Paypal linked account. I know this because i have been asked on more than a few occasions to 'allow' a couple of days before payment for this reason. I don't want to ose those buyers because I can't wait a couple of days..I'd be a fool to do so...and I don't think a lot of buyers would like all auctions to be 'instant' payment either...as somone earlier said not everyones lives revolve around Ebay..I might bid on a Friday just as I'm about to go somewhere for the weekend. The seller can't post my item..so whats wrong with paying for it on Sunday night?
Its becoming far too regular this I want it now or else attitude..patience is a virtue..and life need not be lived at 100 miles an hour.

If you dont like items where "seller only posts once a week" or seller dispatches in 3-4 days, or seller dispatches using second class post, DONT BID

If you want imediate payment, then DON'T USE THE AUCTION FORMAT

No Im not missing your point. I suspect someone just like you just gave me something less than five stars because I didnt dispatch next day.......despite me saying I dispatch within 3 days.....primarily because I am in Ireland most of the week. As I said, despite wanting immediate payment (fed up with non paying bidders), I cant dispatch immediately, so if you cant wait, dont bid.

So you sell, you want immediate payment by paypal, and dispatch 3 days later, or are ok for collection so long as the buyer pays you cash as well, then you refund their paypal payment later?
    Am I reading this correctly?

what annoys me more than buyers who take ages to pay, is those who demand next day/same day postage. This is not always possible for me as so is reflected in my dispatch times. I dispatch everything within 48 hours as it is.

What if like me you spend 2 nights away from home and sleep in a lorry?

Buying stuff with the ebay app is easy but im not going to risk my bank or paypal details on a mobile connection or free wifi.

Just sell on fixed price auctions with pay instantly set. Sorted.

Youre missing my point, which is that my T&Cs are clear and communicated up front, they are not against ebay or Paypal rules, and that if I do what I say what I do, then I dont expect low stars for dispatch time. And if you dont like it, thats fine, just dont bid on an item where you fundamentally disagree with the T&Cs.

I dont have the time, inclination or energy to chase up non paying bidders, hence lets make it easier for me by doing an automatic payment from whichever Paypal account you intend to pay for the auction with.

People who ask to collect and then "forget to come round" or "change their mind"....I find that having them pay up front imprints the agreed collection time on their memory, and their propensity to change their mind tends to zero.

Maybe I should investigate a "deposit" for collectors e.g. say 10% of the auction value, and they pay the rest in cash on collection.....avoids the refunding nonsense. And if one in twenty try to stiff me for non-dispatch, its only a tiny sum to lose.

I don't have the time to read through pages of seller invented t&c's, I assume if they want to list on ebay, they know the rules I'll be bidding on, ebay make them clear enough at the start of the auction.

If I do spot them, you would be ok, the paypal then cash screams scammer, so you're welcome to those buyers who will be matching the intention.

I never pay deposits, if the seller isn't sure their item is good enough for me to complete the deal when I see it, I'll take the warning.
You can have the jokers on that as well. If they bid with no intention of collecting, not paying 10% won't hurt them either.

I think there is definately a lesson to be learn here.

If you want to come over as a scammer, you'll get the problem buyers. Intelligent buyers read the listing, (or don't need to), then move on.
All the sensible, decent one are using sellers who list, perform, get 5 stars.

You don't have to chase them, you can set the NPB process to open automatically any time after 4 days.
