Small tear in vinyl caused by currys delivery men

New machine delivered and installed by Currys. I told the delivery men to be careful as not to damage my new vinyl floor. They installed the washing machine & after they left I noticed a small tear in the vinyl. I phoned CS and was advised to raise a complain and enclosed photo of the damage which I did. I am now waiting for the outcome, hubby told me to let it go but I am upset about this, you can see the imprint of the washing machine wheel & the tear. Also I do not want to sound petty, they left the plastic cover on the washing machine and I did not say anything as I could removed it later on. It is not as easy as I thought as the machine has been pushed under the working top and I will need to pull it out to remove the plastic cover. The machine made a rattle as it was not aligned, my friend told me I should phoned currys and asked whether it should have been done as part of the installation and was told yes. They are sending somebody to do it and I am dreading the confrontation, hope they are not the same people. Anybody got any experience dealing with currys? I do find CS very good, they do reply to my email or even phone me. I just need to see what will happen? Thanks

As an retired carpet and vinyl flooring fitter, this can be a problem with free standing machines, especially when fitted tight under worktops and fitting Cushionfloor vinyl. If Curry's delivery men do this regularly they should know better, I used to get around this by pushing a square of hard-backed but thin carpet under the front wheels before tipping the appliance so that I could slide the whole thing on my mat. With more and more free standing washing machines/fridges/etc that customers would expect me to deal with,I found that it was easier to avoid kitchens!!!! They should replace the flooring but please don't phone me!!!0

My carpet fitter did give me a square of hard backed board to avoid this problem and I did offer it to them and they said no. Will be interesting to see what the outcome of the complaint. This is their job and they should know better. It will be such a hassle to replace the flooring that means removing machine, getting a gas engineer to remove cooker etc and I am not in the best of health. Thanks0

I always use a sheet of hardboard to manuouvere the maching into place to stop floor damage but accidents do happen!
Don't fear the 'confrontation' - having a problem looked into and hopefully resolved shouldn't be thought of in this way, it's just business and so no need to make it personal or too emotional between you and the person they send around. Explain the problem, say what you'd hope and expect as part of the service you paid for and go from there. But you also have to be realistic in what they can offer or what might go wrong.
I damaged my own vinyl and found a little bit of white pva wood glue stuck it back down and made an almost invisible join that never caused a problem after.

Heres a tip for you, when moving washers about when you have vinyl flooring or laminate for that matter, squirt a small amount of washing up liquid on the floor just under the wheels / rubber feet and it'll slip in and out no problem, the fil used to be a service engineer for servis washing machines and thats what he always did, never had any problems with tearing flooring etc.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Thanks for the tip, the carpet fitter gave the same tip to us, he said to smear washing liquid at the back and the washig machine will glide easily.0
