Help! Teenage damage on digital camera

My 16 year old borrowed my minolta dimage digital camera and left it in his coat pocket. When extracted the retractable lens will no longer retract or expand!! Any suggestions or is it now defunct?

Minolta will supply a refurbished replacement but it's not cheap and your best bet might be to donate it to your teenager and buy yourself a replacement.0
