Why do cats sit on windowsills? I know it could be look outside or the warm sun but they still sit there if the blinds are closed and there is no sun.

Mine keeps an eye out for evil neighbour- cat. Territory stuff. She doesn't look out of the front windows (can't go out there as busy road), only ever out of the back....They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

My cat sits on mine and miaows at things outside, sometimes dives into it if something lands on the other end. It can be funny watching him.0

I guess normally a few reasons. Generally it will be cooler there than other areas of the room. Habit could be another reason. One of mine just likes to stick his head through the venetian blinds.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

I regularly have a line of three heads popping up over the top of the bay window windowsill all sat on the sofa watching the world go by - one mongrel, one greyhound and one cat... always kind of reminds me of the old guys on the balcony in the Muppets when you see them all sat there watching the show.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

One of my cats used to stare for hours at a certain place on the wall, who knows why . They just do their own thing most of the time in my experience which spans over 60yrs lol#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
