slippers

Does anyone have any suggestions where to get good quality slippers?

I bought a pair similar to these from Clarks a couple of years ago and are already falling apart.

I'm not particularly looking for mule type slippers either, I'm willing to check all styles.

All recommendations gratefully received.

I guess it depends what your using them for. I bought a pair from Primark and they have been washed many times and are still going strong. There are areas that in my perfectionisitic mind I would alter but they are OK and I'd suggest looking for similar if you are just wearing them around the house and want a pair you can also curl up in.

Failing that, maybe look in BHS and Debenhams, they wouls stock this sort of thing and be fairly affordable. No idea on price style or stock though.

If your wanting to spend a bit more cash, maybe try M&S, John Lewis and House of Fraiser (not 100% on the latter) and if money is no object and you have more money then sense there is always Harrods and Selfridges!

I just wear my slippers around the house for regular use to be honest. I thought I was wearing them no different then anyone else. Things like slippers do appear substandard these days as well, I was surprised they've already fallen apart considering they are from Clarks. I was buying them previously from places like ASDA and Tesco and thought Clarks might last a lot longer but unfortunately haven't. ASDA and Tesco's slippers usually last around a year after buying them, they also tend to stretch after a while as well and appear bigger on your foot, annoyingly.

Will check out Primark, M&S and maybe John Lewis as well.

    Thanks Jennie!

I got my slippers from Shoe Zone. They cost £7. I've had them for 18 months or so and the heels are just now starting to go. They're comfortable and they haven't stretched although they're not mules.

Shoe Zone have an online store and offer free delivery so handy if you can't get to a shop.

These are the ones I've got. It says 'web exclusive' but I bought mine in a shop. It looks like the price has gone up as well.

  • Can't say I've ever had slippers last for 2 years.

18 months would be good for me to be honest. :-)

I usually get mine from M&S.

My son (Adult size 13) has just got himself a pair of Croc slippers like - http://www.jellyegg.com/Crocs/Crocs-Shoes/sc1275/p12503.aspx - but in the brown.

    He says they're BRILLIANT!

For hygiene reasons I suppose it's best to buy a new pair every couple of years, though still wish they'd last a bit longer all the same. Appears like a false economy otherwise.

Thanks everyone, will try and get round to checking what you've suggested sometime soon.

    Thanks again

Crocs do make good slippers. A lot of companies make cheaper alternatives, but these never seem to be as good. One exception is Coqui they seem to use an identical material. I bought crocs for my daugter £24.99 and Coqui for my son £9.99. They have both lasted ages and are never off there feet. Given how fast they grow I think they will both be getting Coqui's.
