can i reclaim PPI from a mortgage compay who are no longer trading?

I previously had a mortgage with GMAC / Mortgage Express, from what i can tell looking online and trying to call them they are both no longer trading, what i am wanting to know is if there is anything i can do? i am pretty sure i paid PPI on this mortgage but do not have any of the documents to check.
I am really hoping there is someone on here that can help me out.

it is unlikely either of these put in place MPPI as they are lenders who typically deal via brokers. The broker would put the MPPI in place. Can you actually recall the name of the business that sold you the insurance?
If you can remember who they were, you can pursue them, as these would be the ones responsible.
And maybe these are still active.
