  • yes Jalexa, thats the things we see quite often, used to get into meter/bin cupboards,they are square section keys.now i know where to get one if i m desperate or if any new occupier asks me

    Ah, had another squnit at it and have a suspcion that may be it. Be a lot easier if I could have a decent look at the lock. I will try that one too. I am really rubbish at this.

    I'm pretty sure I'm allowed access so I can look at the meter and take a reading. It is a flat development (60s) and the box is set into the wall by my outside covered stairs. I'm about to change energy companies and I think it will all go more smoothly if I can check the meter reading. Also it will help with budgeting.

    these are standard keys for all gas meter cupboards if the lock is different for what ever reason you either need to ensure you have a key to get into it at any time to allow access to your supplier or the emergency service or arrange for the lock to be changed to a standard one so they can get access.
