Some more good news.... On my browser (at least) if I enter (a,"e",i,o,u) as the search item once, the browser "remembers" and offers (a,"e",i,o,u) as an option every time into the search bar. So you don't need to remember this syntax: it can be easily entered every time to search for anything with an a, e, i o or u in it. All you need to do is a single left click in the search area.0

How am I supposed to buy local stuff I didn't know I needed now? Has my wife engineered this needless change?0

Our developers have been in touch with an update, and in addition to @GaryTheGolfer1's clever workaround above, you can now search without entering a keyword, so long as you specify a category.
We appreciate that's not quite as open-ended as it used to be, but hope that it helps a bit.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -
Well.....The developer's update has now broken my workaround. In addition it now forces you to choose a category. This defeats the purpose we all used this for before the recent changes. We want to see EVERYTHING available locally (as we did before). This new version also only lists a very few items (maybe 2 or 3 at a time) and then you need to press "Load more" again....and again. I think we were better off before this most recent change. My workaround allows people to search for ANYTHING locally. I would suggest we go back to the previous version and use my workaround.....Please.0

This tool is not working. How can I specify what I'm looking for if I don't know what's available.0
-
OH NO! I'm absolutely gutted to discover that my favourite time-wasting rabbit hole of browsing local stuff I never knew I wanted has been completely scuppered by the developers of the tool.
I can see from earlier posts I'm not the only one - I've had quite a few great deals using this tool. The best one being an entire Self Storage room full of sports equipment and men's clothes which all fitted my husband and sons (being auctioned after a long period of non-payment by the original owner). How would I ever begin to search for that by trawling through all those ghastly categories one at a time? Ugh. Sometimes newer isn't better.1 -
Yes definitely not working again. Using the "A" method and choosing a category (e.g. wholesale) it only brings up one item over a 60 mile radius - that can't be right...... :>((0

Can we revert to the previous version of this app per my post (17 December 2024 at 2:04PM) above. At least my workaround allowed us to use this very useful tool. Please don't leave this tool in its current broken state!0

Definately broken - now showing results over the amount I put in the filter0

Thanks for flagging this latest problem with price limits - I have alerted the wider team to this issue and it's now on their radar.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
