I too had this letter - the helpline was hopeless I asked how much I was paying per therm compared to customers who had the lower tariff - they couldn't answer the question - can you believe it? I asked to be put through to a supervisor - I complained about the way the letter was written he confided that in his opinion the letter was absolute rubbish. He offered to put me on Price Protection 2008 instead of 2009 and I would then be paying the lower tariff but he still couldn't tell me how much I would be paying compared to the old one - he just assured me it would be less. I went for it - for the moment!

Ok, I said to lynneandrea I would try to get a copy of the confirmation people weren't to be charged cancellation fees on 2009, it's taken some time but here it is:
NO CANCELLATION FEE WITH PP2009 - UPDATE
    27 February 2007
Customers have been calling us to ask to transfer from their PP2009 product but have been told they will have to pay a cancellation fee.

Because we've listened to our customers, we'll not charge the cancellation fee for any customer cancelling their PP2009 after 8 February.
