Mortgage Payment Protection

Hi, I am curreblty in the middle of of claiming PPI on my 2 credit cards, and was wondering if I can claim my mortgage payment protection back
This was done through Zurich in 2003, and has continued ever since. Until last October when I contacted them to ask if I was covered being self employed. I was informed that I was not covered, if anything happened as self employed was not covered by it  So I cancelled my policy there and then and sent a letter to confirm it.
I have since recieved ny original letter, with terms and conditions, an on this it states that i would be covered if my company ceases trading. So obviously terms have changed at some time between then and Ocotber, but as far as i know I never recieved anything as I would have obviously cancelled my policy if I wasn't covered
can someone advise me what I can or cannot do as i am a bit confused wirth this one, as I know Mortgage protection is not as easy as PPI on loans and credit cards.
Thanks in advance for any help or advise with this

So when the policy started you were covered, no issue there.
Your issue is you dont recall receiving amended T&C's so your complaint will be with the insurer. Are you sure? as probably half of us bung them in bin and forget about it, so if you had received it you would have read it fully and understood it?
If they did send them to you, they will have a record of it, which flaws your arguement.0 -

Most MPPI plans do cover the self employed. Typically the requirement is to stop paying class 2 NI and sign on. (that confirms the company has ceased trading).can someone advise me what I can or cannot do as i am a bit confused wirth this one, as I know Mortgage protection is not as easy as PPI on loans and credit cards.
You havent given any grounds for mis-sale. Certainly the possibility of misinformation on your check last october is cause for complaint but not the original adviser that set it up. Remember, unlike banks, any complaint you make against a regulated adviser goes against their personal file and they are required to report complaints to any future prospective employer. So, you shouldnt enter into a complaint about an individual if you dont have genuine complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It is likely that the cover was taken out through an Appointed Representative of the life and pensions side of Zurich - probably an old [STRIKE]Applied Crowbar[/STRIKE] Allied Dunbar rep.
This means Zurich is likely to be responsible for any investment advice but NOT mortgages (from 31/10/04) or general insurance, including PPI (from 14/01/05).
If that is the case then the sale probably falls outside the jurisdiction of FOS.0
