It is a bit butlins-esque on an OAP basis - I have nothing against OAPs I hasten to add - just that I expected 'adults only' holidays to cater for adults of all ages and Warners is heavily slanted towards the senior citizens.

I actually find the term OAP quite offensive and inaccurate, but that aside...

As my post above indicates, it doesn't suit all of us who're older people either. Not sure what's meant by 'butlinesque', but there was a flavour of 'regimentation' about it - we were taken to task for sitting at the worng table ('you should have been given your table number on the coach' - we hadn't travelled by coach). One evening we decided to have a pub meal out instead of rushing back for dinner so that bingo could be played and we were taken to task about that as well.

The accommodation at Hayling Island was really poor quality. The hotels may be better, I don't know. DH and I have decided since that experience that we're really not 'herd animals' and we prefer going at our own pace, stopping where and when we feel like it. We're quite adventurous and as long as we keep the arrangements in our own hands we've rarely been disappointed. However, there are people who like having everything arranged for them and they're happy to go along with whatever is suggested because they find it easier. It's whatever floats your boat, as they say.

I didn't mean to sound insulting by saying Butlinesque - I just meant that, as you say, everything sounds regimented and organized, whereas we just like to stay in a nice hotel and be left alone to do what we like. We also are not "herd animals" which is why I would never consider going on a package holiday.

The brochure always pushes the beautiful houses and I naively thought that you stayed in those houses. Must admit though that the scale of entertainers and themed breaks always made me a bit wary, so think I will give Warners a miss.
