eau de yorkshire here-though our fridge allegedly filters it we haven't changed the filter in 5 years!
I do buy the occassional bottle of san peligrano when i fancy fizzy
The environmental impact of bottled water is huge - packaging, transportationPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

i seen a clip on the news about the drought down south and it showed a resivour really low and the news reader was in a canoe paddling away, i felt like shouting get out of there, people have to drink that stuff.
Um, I don't think that would be a problem. The water goes through the treatment works after it leaves the reservoir and before it arrives in your taps!
If you're worried about a canoeist, you should also worry about the mice, birds etc that pee etc into the water... And, of course, not all tap water comes from reservoirs, some is direct from rivers (so it's been through several human beings and back via the sewage works before you get to drink it).
Think north Bristol - all their tap water is from the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal (loadsa canoeists, and worse) - and they seem to thrive on it. That's the wonder of modern water treatment.0 -
I live down south and just drink it straight from the tap. I used to have a water filter but I found it a pain and always forgot about it, plus having to buy filters can get expensive. I agree that we really do take clean water for granted, other people in other parts of the world are not so fortunate. Having said that I sometimes buy smart price fizzy water in the summer to drink with quash.0

I prefer to drink hard water than soft water from a tap. However filtered water is nicer in tea....I know I am strange!
As for bottled water, even that taste different from brand to brand but I really loath buying bottled water as it is ridiculously expensive. If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me

If you dislike the taste of chlorine just leave a jug of water standing in the fridge, the chlorine evaporates off after an hour or so.
Filters that aren't changed end up concentrating rather than removing things so are doing exactly the opposite unless changed frequently.
The standards for contaminants for Uk tap water is higher than for bottled water so you are far better off ,healthwise , drinking tap water.
For me tap every time, including restaurants!0 -
I am totally against the bottled water industry. We live in a country with among the most drinkable tap water in the world, so I refuse to support it.
I have a Brita filter and put my water through that, but will take tap water if I'm in a place where a filter is unavailable (e.g. at work). Really cannot see why anyone would buy bottled water; it is such a waste of money. If I'm going to buy a drink when I'm out I'd a hundred times rather it were a juice or smoothie.0 -
Forgot to say Yorkshire tea in particular markets a couple of types of tea one better for hard and one better for soft water.
Also as someone mentioned one of the additives in plastic is bis gma , a chemical which is now banned in some countries for babies bottles, cups as there are concerns about longterm exposure to it. If plastic bottles are exposed to sunlight this does leach out into the drink.
Finally many bottled waters are unsafe to use for eg making up babies bottles, people with kidney problems etc because of high mineral (sodium) content.
Good link here comparing tap and bottled water and mineral http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-6973/Whats-mineral-water.html
Having said that I would far rather people drank bottled water than squash, fizz, smoothies or fruit juice but that's my job.0 -
I drink my water straight from the tap but when we go down south we buy bottled water. Water down south tastes different somehow. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
