Ok, so from what I've heard here, really, there isn't much money to be made from the "acting" role. Does anyone know how the pay system works? royalties? or just a one-off cash payment, and that's your lot, no matter how well it sells?
One of cash payment in everything I have ever been involved with.

There's money to be had in personal websites for one thing. The standard model would be a certain amount of free stuff and a paid "members" area where you could do live webcam 'shows' and have other content as well.
I doubt you'd get royalties for any "acting" as an amateur though - I wouldn't have even thought the Vivid contract girls get royalties.
Private shoots would probably earn you more money, but obviously there are other considerations to be taken into account with regards to safety e.t.c..

Thankyou for that - interesting.
Ok, lets change direction then - if the actors aren't paid very well, and this is a thread about increasing income, how about decoming the dude that flms / directs the shoot? Or starting up one's own production house?
Needs a high investment to start up, anything i have worked onin the UK they have leased or hired equipment etc. I think in Germany where I first worked, a lot of companies had their own studios, vans and equipment.
Not to say people can't make money from an am cam release.

I actually wrote a huge reply to this last week but my computer crashed before I posted it:cool:
Anyway-I run my own solo site-and membership includes solo girl/fetish video clips,pics,mp3's etc.
There are also several amateur Clip sites where you can upload your own content to sell-I know some girls who make a really good extra income from this, and who have gone on to hiring other actors/actresses to build up their clip stores.
Adult films don't have to be naked/intercourse/pervy lol-there are a huge range of fetishes you can cater to-such as bubble gum blowing, balloons, smoking etc that has a niche following, and doesn't involve you doing anything sexual at all!
Well I know you want to love her,but let me tell you brother, she's been sleeping in the devils bed...:A

That's a very smart idea. Do you need anything to start something like this up? or do you just register a domain and away you go?
I have my own domain for my site-but the big Clips stores host everything for you if you like-all you do is upload your content, with pics and a description of what the video is,and away you go! People can then buy your clips, the site processes the payment and you get a monthly payout minus their cut.
They also let you link to your own site,so my Clips store sells my vids as well as sending traffic to my member site-so it's win/win for me!

I think a 3rd party clip site is a good idea actually, since the monthly costs for hosting your own videos would be pretty high because of the bandwith usage.

Would that be more profitable?
I think it comes down to what you define as being paid "well". Would you consider £80 quid an hour 'well paid' ?.
I've seen some women state that as an hourly rate for boy/girl stuff on ausmodels.
As far as starting your own production company, with technology as it is nowadays, it's not something that would cost the earth to set up really.
Most low-end camcorders nowadays film in HD, and once you've got all the footage you need, all you really need is a computer with a decent specification and a flair for editing.
Producing the DVD's wouldn't be massively expensive either, but if you want bulk production then that would obviously cost.
Selling them, you could attend whatever adult trade show was happening and sell them from a stand there. Go to local adult stores and ask them to sell your stuff - you could offer a sale or return deal.
Obviously the X-Factor would be the cost of the performers. Say, for the sake of argument you hire two men, two women for 4 hours one afternoon.
As a rough ballpark, that could potentially be an £1600 quid outlay to pay everyone, so unless you can get enough footage to stretch over two DVD's worth, then you've got an £1600 quid minimum target to reach just to break even on a single shoot.
Obviously, the perfect solution would be to get all the footage you ned inside an hour, but the nature of the beast probably means that's not really going to happen every time.
And obviously all of this is based on the assumption that you're doing the directing, lighting, makeup e.t.c.. yourself, as you've also then got to factor in staff costs for the shoot as well.
