The case states Paypal will review this information by 18th, which is tomorrow so hopefully the case will be closed then - if not I will phone Paypal on Monday.

I wouldn't expect anything done on a Sunday.

Is has been known but as I said if I will call them Monday if they have not reviewed the information by Monday. They have given themselves a date the information will be reviewed by, not me. I thought it would have took a week or two. As Soolin said, all it will take is a phone call and Paypal will automatically close the case since the seller has entered an invalid tracking number.

  • Yes, the seller can refund voluntarily while the case is open. He is either stalling or just unaware (unlikely to be this though). DO NOT CLOSE THE CASE! As others have said, you will not be able to open again and will definitely lose your money.

The 'tracking' he has given may be the one you get when you ask for proof of postage from the post office. However, once paypal check this they will find it is not actually a tracking number but just a postage number and therefore not proof of delivery.

Also, don't hold out too much hope on the dates that paypal give, you will probably find that tomorrow the date will change to the 25th or something. You just need to be patient, you will get your money back.

Just a thought, could the seller be inputting his PoP certificate number, misunderstanding what exactly it is for?

You are right. I have been too busy the past few days so have not had time to check Paypal nevermind call them. I have just logged in now to see the date has been updated to the 4th April.

We'll contact you with any developments or if we require additional information from you by 4 Apr 2012

It has been a long time since I have had to open an INR case but I do know I will get my money back eventually. This false tracking number just seems to be making it drag out.

I think I will send a quick message to the seller to ask if he will refund my payment. As the payment will be 'on hold' in his paypal account, how would he send a refund volunatarily? (as is excuse is he can't refund whilst a case is open), Thanks
