1st time ever late payment!

OMG.Just opened my post and I have been charged £12 for a late payment fee,I thought I had paid it.It was only £146,I pay it off every month(tesco card points).I have just paid it in full, can this affect my credit rating. Thanks for any replies.

It might (rightly) show on your credit file. It will beocme less important within a year.

Ring Tesco and grovel. Ask them nicely to reimburse the £12. Perhaps set up a direct debit too.

You could also be cheeky and ask them to remove it from your file. I can't see why they would though.

Its not the £12 I am worried about,I was in the wrong not the credit card company I just wanted to know if anyone on the forum had missed a payment and it had affected their credit score.

    Yes, they have.

My apologies for going so horribly off topic.

    Hello Frenchy,

It creates a red or yellow spot or a number 2 on your credit report to show the payment was late. But amongst all the green dots or number 1's I can't see it "affecting" your rating in any way.

Have they changed the numbering system?

As I remember, a 2 would denote payments are (up to) 2 months in arrears, a 1 one month, etc. If payments are up to date they normally post a 0 (zero).

I should think so too. How on earth could you ever imagine that such useful information would be appreciated. :)

  • I'm having a problem with natwest at the moment over a 'late' payment. I closed the account in December and then get a letter on the 15th March telling me I missed a payment! Apparently I owed them £5. I never recieved any notification I owed them and they closed my access to the account on line. It is now showing on my credit rating as a missed payment
