Help with a Belkin Router..........

I have a laptop and desktop, have fitted a belkin router to the ntl modem........fine. But i have to keep resetting the router as it's dropping connection and is constantly having a low connection to the laptop . I live in a falt so there are not to many walls ect for it pass through and the doors are open too.
Anyone else having this problem? went into PC world yest and have secured my router with a passwod ect.
