Can We Have a DFW ABBREVIATION Sticky Please?

Hiya,
I'm a newbie to DFW - finally admitting I've got a problem.
I've read through pages and pages of really heartbreaking posts, and read replies from really genuine, helpful people.
It would, I think, help newbies like me if there was a sticky re. abbreviations used on this forum here. Took me a while to figure some out.
Eg. IPA CCCS PPI OR DMP SOA BBA MAT BR
etc.
What do you think?

No! No! Not another sticky....!
We just culled a whole load of them. If we're going to do this - I would suggest adding it on the end of Southern Scouser's sticky...
BR = British Rail - or Bankruptcy
OR = Onion Ring - or Official Receiver
PPI = pounds per inch - or Personal Payment Insurance
CCCS = Corpus Christi Catholic School - or Consumer Credit Counselling Service
DMP = Dimethylphosphate - or Debt Management Program
SOA = Semiconductor Optical Amplifier or Statement of Affairs/Accounts"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks ZTD for your amazing(not), amusing(you're not), helpful(not at all) reply.
Don't take the mickey out of people asking for help please.
Maybe southernscouser will help.
Why be nasty/sarcastic? I was just asking for advice/making a suggestion
Thought that what this forum was all about?!:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -
I dont think ZTD was taking the mickey, i think the lot on here just have a sense of humour, and yes prob the best way would be to add the abbreviations to an existing sticky as before half the page was half stickeys and it was rather annoying seeing your post dissapear off the first page 5 minutes after posting0

Thanks, but ZTD was taking the Mickey. His/her sense of humour - err, not in the least bit funny at all ,not clever - schoolkid humour, bit sad actually.
But I understand what you say Kevicho about stickies - I am new to this forum ! - will PM southernscouser.
And - thanks to all the very helpful ,friendly people here:T
I was only asking for help!!:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -
Um, I thought it was funny.................but I have an odd sense of humour.
Impressed at the spelling btw!If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

Sorry Don'tskipit,
I thought it was funny too...
I've been on this forum over a year now and still don't know all of them-however, knowing they were talking about Onion Rings clears it all up! (this is supposed to be funny.....................);)

Why wasn't it helpful? Surely I answered most of your queries? Which is not bad for no context. I didn't answer BBA for example because that to me is the British Bankers' Association. Possibly not what you're looking for.Don'tskipit wrote:Don't take the mickey out of people asking for help please.
I wasn't taking the mickey out of you. Many abbreviations have more than one meaning - SIL = sister in law, son in law. Which one is it? Depends on context.Don'tskipit wrote:Maybe southernscouser will help.
Maybe he will come to the rescue. Though not with his underpants on the outside of his trousers as that would lead to copyright trouble.Don'tskipit wrote:Why be nasty/sarcastic? I was just asking for advice/making a suggestion

I haven't been nasty or sarcastic. You suggested a sticky - I pointed out we very recently culled about half-a-dozen of them. I also suggested an alternative.
If you don't like replies with a bit of humour in them, put it in your signature. I would have thought though, they would have been preferable to no reply at all."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

ZTD's reply made me laff and answered original question! as a long time lurker, it can take a while for all the abbreviations to sink in, but it does happen eventually!0

I also thought it might be a way of getting more people to read SS's sticky, and encourage more LBMs."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
