(my first post ever on a forum) I was informed by Santander that they have done an audit and I am owed £50.00 form a former House of Fraser Card (then GE MONEY) form 1999!!!! Am I entitled to some interest?? If I had owed £50 then the interest over 13 years would have been huge! Advice as how to go amout it or who to go to, If I am entitled to some interest. Many thanks

  • Morally, you should be entitled to interest, but you will probably find in the T&C's that they don't have to pay any for credit balances.

One thing is for certain, even if they do pay interest, it won't be at the same rate they would have charged you!

No. Your storecard account will not pay interest on credit balances. You should have been aware that your account was in credit all those years ago and either requested a refund or used the card to spend the credit amount.

You are fortunate that you were contacted about this. Don't be greedy. Are they going to send a cheque or a replacement card for you to spend on?

I know it's radical, but have you asked them for interest?

I think it's reasonable to ask. They have, afterall, kept this credit balance quiet for 13 years and you could have made a modest return on it.
