HSBC Loan PPI

I'm in the process of filling in the questionaire sent by HSBC in respect of PPI which was on a personal loan I took in the late 90s for a car. HSBC have confirmed all the deatails of the loan and lodged the original complaint for me - I just want to check that my reasons for claiming I was mis sold are valid as I'm sure there are a lot of people jumping on the band wagon at the moment!
I took out the loan in person at my local brance following a letter they has sent pre approving me for a personal loan. I needed to change my car and was looking to take out a 4 year loan to do this. In the branch the lady I dealt with asked if I wanted PPI - I explained that I didn't think I needed to as I worked in the NHS and had excellent sick pay cover (6 months full and 6 months half pay) and should the worst happen, my family would be able to support me in clearing the loan. I was told that I was unlikely to be accepted without it and I really needed to add it on, so naievly I did.
Is this a valid reaon to claim for mis selling?

Hi there
Yes that is fine, you did confirm you already had cover in place but they still sold it to you.
Good luck on your reclaiming.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
