Van Hire for Young Driver

Dear fellow moneysavers,

I am due to move house on the 8th March 07, but am only 21 and am finding it difficult to locate anyone who will rent out a van to me. Previously I have used a friend, but his van is no longer available. Could somebody suggest a van hire company around the Colchester area that will rent out a medium sized van (just need it to take the sofa really) for one day to me? I've been driving for 4 years and haven't had any accidents.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

We rent vans quite a bit and I think 25 is the youngest I've come across. Some you have to be 30 years old even!

My husband has helped move one of his friends a cople of times, hired the van in his name and driven for them. Do you have a friend that could help and do this for you?

You'll rent under 25 years of age, it's the insurance companies - that's it. You'll hve to find someone a little older to drive for you.

I rented a van from sixt when I was 23 so try them - I had to pay an extra fee (as I am guessing the link above says) but there was no problem. Have you actually been asking companies or just using online quote systems? I hired cars many times when I was under 25 and lots said they couldn't give me a quote as I was too young, but on speaking to places it was just that there would be an extra fee.
