I now need a new drill, as I dropped my cordless on the floor today, smashing it to pieces.....
So far it is between a Hitachi 18V at £89.99

and a Makita 14.4V at £90.91 delivered

Anyone recommend one, or have any other options?
Thanks!0 -
We only use dewalt (which we buy in from the states), excellent quality but expensive.
I’ve handled one of the blue ones from Screwfix (Eubra?) and it felt nicely made & solid. Don’t know if they last but they are quite cheap0 -

I've got one of these http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100372&ts=40989&id=41479
I've found it to be pretty good and I've been giving it a real hammering as I've recently moved house and I've had loads of DIY to do. If you look round you'll probably be able to get the same drill for under £100. I have found that the battery can run down quickly though so its probably worth having two batteries.0 -

I'm not a "professional" user of drills, but needed one for work to do the occasional bit of drilling.
Went to Argos and bought a JCB 18V one which came with a free corded drill, and when I paid at the touchscreen thingy, it asked whether I wanted the extra free offer which came with it, which was................El cheapo Challenge power tool kit containing ANOTHER cordless drill (Very cheap looking, gave it away to a mate) ,jigsaw, sander and cordless screwdriver!
Couldn't see over the top of the pile of boxes on the way back to the car! And all for £70!
In reply to your question, the JCB model is obviously not as good quality as something like a dewalt, but it has been fine for occasional use (Have just finished putting up a 25 square metre deck with it no probs) Agree with poster who said 2 batteries are theway to go.It's not a light at the end of the tunnel, it's a man with a torch and more jobs
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.0 -
