Hello all
i just wanted to let you all know of my recent experience with barklaycard when i applied for their 22mth 2.9% fee balance transfer offer.Filled in the forms via this site, filled in the amount i wished to transfer etc and didnt recieve the quick response they advertise and ended up waiting over a week for a simple decision.Eventually the card dropped through the door asking me to activate it but there was no mention of the balance transfer i had requested.when i enquired further with them all they seemed interested in was getting me to activate the card which i was reluctant to do if the balance transfer had not been agreed but they just would not give me any relevant information. After waiting 3wks or so they advised me that my credit limit was £250 so they were unable to carry out the balance transfer-they had also activated the card which i had not authorised.Just to be clear i have an A1 credit rating/history and earn in excess of £35k.A student can get a better limit!! Phoned them again to cancel and they said they would request a higher limit and contact me within 2 days. After another week rang them back only to go through the whole tired process of them wanting to repeat the previous proceedure and get back to me...which of course they didnt. After all this it turns out they allocate your limit based on god knows what and you have to be with them for 6mths before you can request a higher limit than they give you.Given that they have details of the amount you wish to transfer from the start wouldnt you think they would simply advise you accordingly rather than this carry on.I cancelled the card but im concerned that this will be repeated with any other card company and that my credit score may be affected with all the searches they do...
