IFA paperwork

After recently taking advice from my IFA over the phone, I find I won't get any paperwork till it's all done and dusted re change of ISA funds / investments.
Is this correct?
Shouldn't he have sent me some written reasons for his recommendations first, not last?

Assuming it is not an amendment to an existing product/platform and a new provider is being used, the requirement is to send the suitability report within a period after the application has been signed. Some advisers will issue in an advance but typically that's on fee basis where you are committed to pay.

    Thanks for that.
One is amendment to different funds within an ISA wrapper.
The other is a new investment into a bond fund we have used before.
I presume therefore I have a cooling off period when I get the paperwork, though I am thinking he may bring it with him if/when he comes for me to sign.

You get the usual cooling off period on the new money. Not the fund switch. It is not uncommon for the report to be brought along at the next meeting.
