Spybot S&D Updates

Hi all
I use Spybot S&D regularly and update it probably every week. I have just discovered that all the downloaded files are stored in an 'updates' folder under the main 'Spybot - Search and Destroy' folder.
Is it safe to delete all these old updates without
1. affecting the operation of syybot
or
2. setting it back years

I just deleted all mine and it was fine (I left the Downloaded.ini and Online.ini files alone)
If you are concerned about these things. Just make a new folder somewhere and move all the files to the new folder.
If it all works okay, you can safely delete them.
If it doesn't. You can just move them back again.0
