It's a shame the roof direction adjustment is so coarse, there was nothing that matched mine.

I was always under the impression that a South facing roof was the ideal situation but I note that as I move the direction arrow toward West, so the earnings on the calculator rise accordingly ??

Are you sure? they certainly don't for me, due South is by far the highest.

Not happy with their leccy savings calculator under the heading "percentage". It says:
Select the amount of energy that you expect to sell back to the grid. The average UK home will sell between 25% and 35% of the energy it doesn't use back to the grid.

Firstly, I'd expect the average UK home to export 60% to 70%, not 25% to 35%.

Secondly, the statement is very odd "will sell between 25% and 35% of the energy it doesn't use back to the grid" ...... surely the average house will sell/export 100% of the energy it doesn't use, back to the grid.

Thirdly, if you play with the percentage figure, it changes the export earnings figure, but with export deemed at 50% there wouldn't be any change.

Sorry for the nit-picking, but when they get some bits wrong, it always makes me wonder about the rest.

    Pedantic Mart.

PS I'm just being grumpy because the weather was a let down, and I only got an O. M.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

I'm not convinced the calculator is right to be honest, it gives the same figures for a NE facing roof as it does for a SE facing roof. What?

3.4 O's (13.35 kWh) here today. Great morning. Crap afternoon.

There is rain, rain & more rain forecast for the next few days :(

Some sun and some cloud produced the following:

    3.154717 O's (12.54 kWh)

Back on course for PVGIS Est. 2.5 kWh UP!smiley-happy036.gif

Peak production today was 3.633 kW
3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds

  • Still churning away at 30w but I'll call mine in anyway.

    Decent enough today at 2.88 O's :)
