Without being naughty(cough) but isn't the stupid one Edwink for waiting nearly 3 years to remove the chimney, I mean.....all that FiT gone to waste...at 48p per unit(cough, splutter)

Ha!! Ha!! Ha!! Now guys let me explain as I must have driven you all mad over this past week. (especially old Oscar who bailed out of his dustbin early).

We have 10 panels in total. 4 of them are on a lower roof. So no shading from the said chimney on them. The six higher panels are one row of 5 and Billy panel number 6 on that string was on his own to the left of the chimney. Firstly we thought only just over half of the panels were shaded. So we thought it was best to see over the first year if the early morning shading on the higher 6 panels would really make a difference to our total year generation. The answer was that it did but not enough to warrant paying for someone to remove the chimney and pay for the cost of scaffolding. In the second year generation was pretty much the same (of course). So we then started to think seriously about having the chimney removed.

So now to year 3:- We decided we had enough money saved to renew our grotty bathroom. On talking to the guy who installed it for us, we found out that his brother is a roofer. The good news was that he was one of these roofers that would happily work on anyone's roof without scaffolding. So even before the bathroom was finished we had his brother here to see if the chimney could be removed safely enough because of the panels.

The end of the story is that he came along and removed the chimney. As we have a working stove in the kitchen he has fitted internal stainless steal piping (not sure what it is called) in the loft and a lovely new black stove pipe/chimney pot thingy which comes out of our roof on the east side of the house. So kitchen stove still operational and no shading on the 6 higher panels. But Billy no mates is up there on the roof on his own. Mmmmmmm!!! Thinking about having another panel added next to billy!!!! Probably not worth the cost really because the inverter for the 6 panels would need to be changed etc. etc. Just a thought though!!!!

The roofer charged us £250.00 for the job!!! Which we thought was very very reasonable. The new pipe work in the loft did not cost us anything. (That is another story!!!!) Had we decided to get the chimney removed in year one or two, I am sure we would have paid a lot more than we did for a roofer. Also we would have had to pay for the internal loft chimney type piping thingy stuff. So all in all we are very pleased with the outcome!!!

Thank you all for joining in with me over this!!! It is nice to have a bit of banter on the site!!!

    Enjoy the summer all!!!

This also seemed likely to me, but because Oscar etc hadn't guessed it, and I also didn't know the history,

Submitted my first FiT reading on July 7th, heard bad reports on SSE payout time, anyone had any experience with them?

I notice a few other people on here also have GEO Solo`s, thought I`d post a problem I was having. More and more frequently my monitor was losing connection with the sensor prompting me to "pair" the two of them every time it happened. My intial fix was to change the batteries which didn`t seem to make a difference. Just as I was getting too fed up with it and was going to contact my installer I found that the velcro sticker ring on the sensor had been gradually slipping resulting in the sensor not completely lining up with the blinking LED`s! Install was as recent as end of Feb.
Anyone, all good again now, hope this might help someone else out there.

P.S. My first reading on July 7th was 1932, should be about £350 I think???? :o
