Got a surprise 21 yesterday (3.76 Os). Nice day, but didn't realise it was 'that' nice till I looked at the TGMs.

September suggesting +9% so far, but I think the weather is changing. So far it's been an almost perfect year, with my top 5 months all + (apart from April at 97%). Between them April - Aug account for 67% of target, so good weather in those 5 is more important than the other 7.

This year the best 5 came in at 3.121MWh, and 110% of target.

Afraid it will be changing ! It's all downhill from now till Xmas and the rate of change of daylength is particularly fast around the equinox.

Hiya Eric. Hopefully my spreadsheet partially accounts for this. I set up a pro-forma which I copy each year. Each day has an 'average' guess, which I overwrite with the actual. The guesses vary through the month, for instance ESE system Sept starts at 10, but ends at 8 with 9s in the middle.

Not at all scientific, just divide monthly target by number of days, then 'tamper' with it, low to high weighting before June, and high to low weighting after June. But this allows me to say, 'if average for rest of month/year, then predicting x%', as daily estimates are already pre-entered.

Silly and boring, but keeps me busy, and away from the parks with my bottle of meths!

You'd get a slightly more scientific result if you defined the figure for 1st September as the average of August & September and the figure for 30th Sept as average of September & October. Quoted monthly figure for Sept would be about right for Sept 15th.

No need. We're running into autumn with winter just around the corner. No matter how clear the sky might seem over the next few months, the sun will appear at a much more oblique angle and days will be rather short.

However, I'm not too bothered about it. I've claimed enough in FIT payments recently to cover this year's lost interest on the investment many times over and am reasonably confident of a dribble of further payments over the winter. I guess hibernating from now till March might be a good plan !:D
