4.92 O's yesterday:D
Should be close to last months (new record) by close of play today:beer:16 Sanyo Hit 250s.4kWp SMA 3.8kWp inverter. SW roof. 28° pitch. Minimal shade. Nov 2011 install. Hybrid car. Ripple Kirk Hill. N.E Lincs Coast.0 -
Just checked ours and we've covered 27% of the cost in the first 18 months, again not including electricity saving. Taking electricity savings into account it is over 35% cost recouped. With RPI increasing FIT payments I'd estimate that it will be well under 5 years for full payback.
What numbers are you using to get over 8% of cost in 18 months just from electricity savings? Sounds incredibly high.0 -

Jim's return, as stated, is derived from the FiT payments and excludes the electricity savings ....

No, you are wrong.

You're correct, I remembered the '27% excluding' and didn't re-read the rest .... anyway, assuming a typical/decent saving of £150 to £180 over 18 months then 8% would describe a system price in the range of £1875 to £2250, whereas 8% over 18months on a typical 4kWp system price ~18 months ago (~£10k?) would represent an annual saving of ~£533/year which would just about represent 100% self consumption (if you inflate the cost of electricity a little - ie ~14p/kWh !) ....
I agree, more than a tad optimistic unless there's a massive baseload (at least 3.6kW) !! ... I guess that Jim needs to revisit the payback calculation ...
Apologies

No problem.
27% over 18 months is a great return, beating mine.
The over 8% for electricity did seem a lot, why I asked. Was just interested to know the numbers or reasons.0 -
Oscargrouch have you included the cost of your Wattson and Optiplugs?:hello:0

Oscargrouch have you included the cost of your Wattson and Optiplugs?
Sure have k66; Wattson etc was free from my installer; had a good price & good service; what more would you ask for....?

I'm not far behind @ 24% in 18 months
Cheers
We are very pleased with ours too.
We've had just over 20% of our purchase cost back in 15 mths (not counting reduction in electricity bills) and this qtr should be really good and is looking like taking us over the 30% mark!!!
