Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

You divide the number of kWh of energy produced in a day by the kWp rating of the array. It is a way of levelising different sized set-ups.
So, my 4.25 kW array produced 6.8 kWh. today, which is 1.6 Os.
The O bit comes from Hawaii 5-0, which is when you produce 5kWh/kWp in a day.

I don't think so, I thought it came from Oscar, who invented the system and Hawaii just comes from 5 Os, same as the other terms for a number of Os.

Ah. I didn't know that. Every day's a school day…

Ah, ok I get it. I've done a similar thing for kWh per kWp for the year.

An “O” is named after member Oscargrouch and is Generation in kWh divided by your PV rating
e.g. 7.2 kWh gen / 3.6 kWp i.e. 2 O’s or a bond . Today I had 2.2 kWh/4.8 = 0.46 Os.
The vernacular for them which I can’t find the original but in early Jan this was around
We came up with the list around April 2015
1 = Oscar after Oscargrouch who started the 'O' System
2 = Bond as in double O
3 = Typhooo
4 = Winks as in 40 winks
5 = Hawaii 5 O's
6 = Maiden as in Maiden over no runs off 6 balls.
7 = Heaven as in 7th heaven
8 = Spud as in Pot 8 O'sNow @QrizB you can feel free to correct me 😎

Has anyone achieved a Spud, in Blighty?
2 -
I am starting to wonder if my house has been moved above the artic circle and the sun is yet to rise?😆
0.0403 O's
On achieving a Spud, the highest I ever reached was 7.4 O's. I believe that its possible down on the South coast, with the right conditions and a cold easterly wind to cool the panels.

Are you actually Australian?
If so, then we shouldn't really have told you our secret code, as 'it's a local code, for local people'. 😉
Hi Netexporter, regarding spuds, I don't think anyone has managed one. But we did have a June a few years ago, with some very cold (for June) temps, so maybe then, if ever? For me, very low 6's are the max, with E/W panels.
