Wet, windy and dull although the sun did make a short interlude late in the day taking us to a staggering 0.184 O's. Just missed PVGIS daily estimate yesterday with 0.45 Os.
Great start today though with wall to wall sunshine until noon but the 3.6 kwp east array (15* north of east actually) panels were already in shade by then having peaked at a heady 519 watts at 9.40am. My combined 7.8kw of panels had made a total of 2.3 kWh by noon whereas the 4kwp array 100yds away (15* east of south) had made 6.86 kWh with a peak of 2300 to 2375 watt from 10.50am to noon.
Once the west side (15* south of west) got going things improved although there was occasional cloud between noon and 1pm and we finished the day on 5.83 kWh (0.75 Os) compared to 10.575 kWh (2.64 Os) for the nearby 4k system which was therefore 3.5 times as efficient. (Basically same location, pitch 35* against our 39*, 4kw has a bit of shade early and late as we do but not enough to make any real difference as wattage is so low at each end of the day. The south system is Solar Edge!)
The 4.2 kwp west side had made a consistent 1500/1600 watts from 1.15pm to 2 pm, three times the peak on the east side and the west side made over 3 times as much energy as the east side - 4.5 against 1.3 kWh which equates to 1.07 Os against 0.36 Os. If anything, the east side had the best of the sunshine. That 15* either side of east/west makes a huge difference! Given the exact orientation PVGIS suggests the ratio should be east 1.19 to west 2.54. Of course on an overcast day the east side fairs much better relatively and output is broadly in the same ratio as kwp so that helps keep the overall ratio closer to the PVGIS estimate.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
0.9 yesterday and 1.5 today, 127% and 160% PVGIS respectively...... cold, but nice bit of sunshine.
Have noticed in the past month though that the 3 x NE panels are nigh on useless with the low sun.17 x 300W panels (5.1kW) on a 3.68kW SolarEdge system in Sunny Sheffield.
