  • WOW, that's good, producing over 40kWh in a day; we hope you were able to use a lot of that and didn't need to import much?

For here, we had our 1st Hawaii of the year at 5.64 O's :j

Yay 41.35 kws yesterday washing machine, scarifier, tumble dryer, dishwasher, heated floor in bathroom and not one flicker of the red light.........

Not sure how much I used, going to investigate further a cheap way of measuring consumption vs pv production

2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

    Hi rugbyleaguesmate
I use two owl moniters one clamped to solar feed and other to import feed in meter cupboard seems to work ok.
    Hope this helps.

The two Owl monitor system works ok provided you can find a point where you are measuring import only. Many electrical installations have the solar input fed into the consumer unit - don't have their own separate feed unit - and so the output lead from the consumer unit to the meter is import or export depending on how much energy is being produced and used. The simple Owl unit does not know which direction the current is going and so sums together import and export.

I've developed a simple circuit which detects the current direction and sends the current clamp output to one of two Owl monitors - one import, the other export. Two further Owl monitors measure the output from my two solar panel systems.

Really like the look of this....do I get the Solar pv hub? Already have a sender for my Geo so presume this would be OK for the hub?
