Exactly why I can't be a$$ed to do it. Just don't want to waste 2hrs of my time listening to BS
I've done the hard work for you ..... lucky ...!
TBF I thought it was a long shot, but worth a chat. A new inverter plus 18 PO's, might be £1k(ish) for the trade. Add on £500 for the scaffolding, and a couple of hours labour, and £2.5k might have been possible, if they were genuine. Had the quote been £2.5k I'd have been interested, borderline, but possibly worth it.
Shame they weren't honest, and the more holes I poked in the sales pitch, the more extreme it got, culminating in - 'well, if you're happy to spend £3.5k every 5 years to replace your two inverters, then that's up to you'.
It was only after she left that it also dawned on me that the company name on her jacket was different to the name given on the phone. She didn't leave a business card. She took all her scribbles with her, and they were all on blank paper, not headed paper. I think they know their claims are BS.

I was then doubly unlucky as they notified me to say no plans to do my area yet ....... as I'm redecorating that room, and if the meter (edit: gas meter) is moved about 1inch (or better still flipped from one wall to another, where it sits in a corner) it would be very helpful.
Oh well.
Mart.
Hi Mart,
Just to say that EDF aren't ' doing my area ' I just went to the website and there's a link to follow that says - after I logged in that is - ' how do I get a smart meter '.
I can't imagine the part of Devon where I am being ' blanket installed ' until one of the last due to the rural location but there were no issues about EDF doing it except the couple of weeks wait which seems to be standard living a bit off the beaten track.
TBH I don't really know what our actual export figures are, we have an Immersun and have tried- probably not as avidly as many - to use as much as we can but it will be interesting to monitor the actual figures.

Nobby.
Morning. Yep, that's what I did, then a week or two later I got this message:-Thanks for registering your interest in having a smart meter.
Unfortunately we can't offer you a smart meter right now. This could be because we haven’t reached your area, or that the type of meter you have isn’t upgradable yet.
We're sorry that you'll have to wait a bit longer to have your smart meter installed. Rest assured we haven't forgotten about you and we'll be in touch as soon as we can offer you one.
Will have to patient for now I suppose, and decorate around the old gas meter, as per previous attempts!

Sorry Mart ...... Just got the impression from the guy who came to switch the meter that they were keen to do as many nationally as they could from customer requests before they started to blanket install areas.
Serves me right for listening to him !

Hiya Nobby. I got exactly the same impression. It would just be nice to know my export, so I can work out my leccy import savings. I did think it slightly cheeky that they wouldn't use the export figure for payments. But I can't complain as my big system is on the top FiT rate, and export is ~3.3p, so I only 'lose' £30pa. But for anyone on a lower FiT, and 4.91p export it could make quite a difference to their returns (assuming they don't have a diverter!)
More boring weather here, just ticking along lately, after a slow start to Sept.

1.2 O's yesterday, and 1.3 today in gloomy Essex.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is sunny, but too late in the afternoon to be useful. Hopefully Thursday will make up for some of the underperformance so far this week.0 -
