I seem to be the only person who had a cxxp April. Ended up 20 kWh down on expectations at 487kWh, or 4%. Last year was about 18% above but that was an exceptional April from memory.

I am also hoping the heating stays off from now on, otherwise it will be the first May since PV was installed that we burn any gas and that will be tragic:eek:

Awaiting Exiled Tyke's scores, to see if things have sorted themselves!

Well here it is! But first I note:

I was 95% of estimate: 16Kwh (or 4.8 O's) short. But that's the closest I've been since install. If the estimates are unrealistically high then I doubt I'll ever make payback.

On another (interesting?) note: Martyn some time ago discussed the performance of flatter (20%) panels and the extremes in performance between winter and summer. December was probably a poor example for typical production being so gloomy but the only one I've got. My flattest panels have produced 12 times more electricity in April than Dec. The more normal panels 9.5 times. In case anyone is interested.

Yesterday in spite of some hail and plenty of cloud patches was the best day so far at 5.4 O's. I think the cold air may have helped somewhat?

443kwh for April here. Beat target by 3%. Today looks a great start 3.5kwh by 9am but I need to average over 15kwh a day for May

On the iBoost question, we have a 210l tank with a top and bottom imerrsion, the bottom one is on the iboost and set to 70 degrees (I think it ould go higher, luckily all our taps are mixers and on the baths/showers all are thermo-mixers). We also run the gas in the morning and evening set at 50 degrees so we always have enough hot water energy for a bath and 4 showers twice a day. The most we have ever acheived witth the iboost over a month was 160 units.
    I think....

    Morning all,

April ended in the green with 451/393kWh, so 115% of target if rounding up (by 0.02% for the picky!)

    April 2015 had 483/393 and 123%
    April 2014 had 343/393 and 87%

Based on previous then, considering the shocking start to the month/year, I'm happy with how things are, especially with the weather over the past week and still hitting 6 Hawaii's in a row!
17th through to 30th of April gave 257kWh with only 3 days not exceeding a Hawaii, with my first Maiden of the year on the 20th.

    Lovely stuff!

PVGIS 'forecasts' are based on 30 year averages. 4% lower is well within expectations; the 18% higher may not be the best you ever get.

All my 3 systems achieved PVGIS estimates, strangely my ESE and WNW both exceeded by 10% or more suggesting early and late sun(when it's needed most)
Unfortunately I've been a little lax in my import readings but do know I've used over 1300kWh since the turn of the year. I'm happy with that considering I have a switch happy wifesmiley-angry003.gif and knowing the next 4-5 months should only be double digit import months

Finished the month off yesterday with a combined 4 O's

5.24 O's yesterday. Ended the month with 451 kWh against PVGIS target of 426 kWh, so happy with that. :j

EricMears - you are of course correct, just that one feels on a downer if one is the only one with really poor weather in a particular month. It was poor weather here, so I am not at all concerned about how the system is performing. Lots of days with thick, dark continuous cloud are not good for PV...

    Hi

It's not only pv either .... although we've had enough brightness for the pv & solar thermal to provide what we need, the mainly cloudy skies have had a marked effect on the solar gain we would normally have at this time of year. At the moment it's borderline whether we'll need to light the log burner sometime in the next few days in order to top-up the heat in the building's thermal-mass, in which case it'll be the first May heating requirement in years ...
