    Last day for FIT payment;)

    Total this quarter = 230kWh

    Compared to...

    2012 = 302kWh

    2013 = 242kWh

    2014 = 284kWh

    2015 = 265kWh

    Payment will just beat 2013 due to higher FIT rate:T

    Hi folks, i've just purchased a house with solar PV panels on and don't have much idea about how they work.

    In filling the paperwork in for British Gas last week there was a question about export meters (we don't have one) and "deemed export payments"... can anyone tell me what on earth this all means?

    Also if anyone has any tips, tricks or must do/knows about living with solar panels then please let me know.

    (If this is the wrong place to post this, please let me know and I can move)

    Welcome Grand Plan; You must have an export meter. This is the meter where you submit your 1/4 readings from to get your FIT payments, 'deemed export payments are worked out from your total 1/4 of generation (usually 50% of) this is on top of your FIT payment, but at less value. Unless you have a 'smart meter' installed. Just keep reading the posts on here, and you will always get an answer from someone. You will get the gist of it all as time goes by....HTH... coffee.gif

    Apologies RE: export meter - my lack of understanding especially as i've not had to send in a reading yet.

    So i've just seen in reply to another post on here, that I get paid for electricity I generate even if I then use that electricity myself. So now I need to figure out how to maximise this to run anything possible during sunlight hours!

    If you use 100% of your generation you still get paid, using 100% is near impossible though...
    If you have an immersion heater within your house, these can be connected via a gizzmo called an 'iBoost' to divert surplus energy to the heater element. The list is endless....free hot water though, is a major saving if you can get it....coffee.gif
