Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"
Comments
-
Not a great August, and an end to my run of only plus months for 2015.
ESE generated 296kWhs and hit 88% of target.
WNW generated 167.9kWhs and managed 101% of target.
Overall 463.9kWhs and 92% of target.
The weather was noticeably better in the afternoons on average, and this is reflected in the figures. Also, and for the 4th month in a row, the WNW actually produced more kWh/kWp than the ESE with 83.95 v's 82.68. Strange results from strange weather.
Other bits - Import was low at 91kWh's, and predicted year end generation (if the rest of the year is average) is 4500 and 106%.
Mart.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

My system had its first anniversary yesterday.
PVGIS - 3892
Inverter - 4417
Meter - 4364
Which means there is about a 1% discrepancy between the two readings so nothing to worry about really and we're about 13% above PVGIS which is great.
Imported - 2356
Approx usage from previous years - 3200
So about a 20% saving on our electricity bill. This doesn't account for the fact though that I dusted off the tumble drier to use on sunny winter days (something we bought for emergencies when we were using cloth nappies) and we bought an air conditioner which we've been using as a dehumidifier/heater in the spring and autumn and as an air conditioner on those two days in July. I think we probably exported 70%.
This has been great for our lifestyle as we now have less clothes drying indoors...
I've so far claimed and received £634.55 from the FIT with one month left to claim for the year.
So.... all is going really well. Hopefully this is an average year and not a spectacular year. We are well on our way to paying off the system in 8 years on FIT payments alone so I'm happy....4 Kwp System, South Facing, 35 Degree Pitch, 16 x 250W Solarworld Panels, SMA Sunnyboy 3600 Inverter, Installed 02/09/14 in Sunny South Bedford - £5600
