    Hawaii + a little (20.5 kWh)

No hot water:eek: even with the Iboost diverting power allday?

Don't know anything about tanks. Do they have heating elements and can they go?

Were able to heat water with the boiler so cold showers avoided.

Immersions heaters are usually located near to the top of the cylinder.

They can be checked in position (with power off)

They do "go" after a period of time, although my old one was in for 25 years and still worked:eek:

You can change it yourself (I did) provided you isolate the electrics and drain sufficient water from the cylinder.

If it is a standard size 2 1/4" you could use

    http://www.screwfix.com/p/box-immersion-spanner/29549?cm_sp=Search-_-SearchRec-_-Area1&_requestid=278418#_=p
    or
    http://www.screwfix.com/p/plumbing-tools-by-rothenberger-cranked-immersion-spanner-122mm/20266

If the tank is old and immersion has been in a while, you may be better off getting a plumber to do it

    Edit. And isolate the water:)

Edit 2. Is there a reset button in the top of your immersion?

    Conversely, it's raining here.

Blue used to be my favourite colour until it was ruined by a moron...

Hi Martyn, teah this time of year my system `wakes up` some time between 4 and 5am, nothing worth noting is genereated until slightly after this though!

OK, should have been more specific when I said they were identical. My Dad`s roof is slightly steeper at about 45 Deg. Orientation is identical. Both have no shading. Annual generation is the same. All kit is identical though.

Worth noting that this morning his system was back to normal. Seems it was just an anomally yesterday morning....he`s hoping anyway! :o

Morning. I had a quick play with PVGIS, and 38d v's 45d just doesn't seem to make much difference at this time of year. Perhaps you have a small advantage, but tiny. So that 1.5kWh does seem interesting might be worth keeping an eye out to make sure it was just a freak event. Glad it's back to normal. Early sunrise in Scotland, forgot about that. :o

Annually, looks like your systems should be almost identical, with your father having a slight winter advantage, and you a slight summer one.

Yesterday got a Hawaii plus 0.14 ..... nice, and I didn't see it coming, it just plodded along all day through sun and rain.

Come on Oscar, let's not spoil the fun and games on here by bringing politics into it. :naughty:
Last 2 days has bumped along at around 2.5 O's a day, hoping the expected high pressure may bring back the Hawaiis over the weekend :j
