Missed payment!!

I paid off my Natwest credit card in December and was told by the operator it was closed. When I logged into my other natwest accounts I could no longer see the credit card account. I today receive a letter saying I missed a payment and the balance of my account was £5.00. I explained I thought the account was closed but asked why I had never recieved a statement nor request for payment,he couldn't answer. I paid the £5 and he agreed to wave the £12.00 as my balance was so low. Question is, will I now have a black mark on m credit report?

I think I'd ask for a full breakdown as to where this £5 has come from. It could be a mistake on their part. I'm not sure I would have paid it so readily, but it's done now.

I guess the question about the credit report will be answered once you know more about where the £5 came from. If it was their error, if there is a mark, it should be removed.
  • Telephoned them again today, and they have assured me the account is now closed and they said there would be no mark against my unblemished history. Guess its worth checking in a month or so?

I would check your credit file in a month or so as an advisor would not be able to pre-empt whether you will get one or not.

My money would be on 'residual interest'.
  • So checked credit report this morning and sure enough there is a marker for a missed payment, only time I have ever had a bad mark. I am fuming to say the least. I intend to phone them today and have murder!
